Not really sure why you would need an extension for this. In Chrome you have a sensor manager and Firefox you can use the about:config to change your GEO location data.

Interesting. I wish Google was more upfront about why some of these experiments are being region-locked to the US. I've heard people claim its because of regional privacy and security legislation, but it would be nice to get an official answer. Would be nice to be able to experiment with this search mode myself. My use of google search has certainly declined with Bing already offering this feature.
Try using a VPN and set your location to the US then go to Google labs to sign up for SGE... good luck
